What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a holistic system of medicine that originates from China, and has been adopted all over the world. TCM encompasses a wide range of practices and treatments, including gua sha, cupping, acupuncture, and more. Our TCM practitioners at First Care Centre aim to restore balance and harmony in your body, promoting healing and illness prevention.
At First Care Centre, TCM is offered as an individual or complimentary treatment. You can seek TCM on its own, or combine TCM with other treatments we provide!
Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatments at First Care Centre
Traditional Acupuncture: A key component of TCM and has been practiced for thousands of years. It involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate and balance the body’s vital energy, known as “qi” or “chi.”
Ear Seeds: AKA auriculotherapy, or ear acupressure, involving the application of small seeds or beads to specific points on the outer ear to promote healing and pain relief.
Gua Sha: The use of a smooth-edged stone over specific areas of discomfort to promote circulation, relieve muscle tension, and reduce inflammation.
Cupping: Creating a suction over an affected area of muscle or tendon pain, with the use of plastic or glass cups, to release tension.
Moxibustion: The burning of dried herbs (usually mug wort) near acupuncture points.
